Uploading Your Website Using LeapFTP

Obtain and install an FTP client such as LeapFTP from Leapware. You can download an evaluation copy from LeapWare.com. Run LeapFTP. Click "Sites", then "Site Manager".

Give the site a description such as "Darkscape".

For the IP address, enter ftp.username.darkscape.net. Uncheck the box marked "Anonymous" and enter your username. Then enter the password you chose for your account. At this point, you have the option to save the password so that you do not have to type it again. This may or may not necessarily be a good idea. For local path, put the directory you most commonly save your web site to. For example, C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\mywebsite would point to a folder called "mywebsite" on your desktop. For remote path, enter /public_html as that is where the web server reads your web site from. It is important that you do NOT change the name of this folder on the webserver, as it is the only place the web server will look for your html files. When you are finished entering all of your information, click "Connect".

The files that are on your computer are in the window to the left, and the files that are on the web server are displayed in the window on the right. To upload files, simply drag them from the left window to the right window.
